Cruising to Visby, Sweden

Visby is a town Visby, Swedenon the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. A former Viking site on the island of Gotland, Visby was the main centre of the Hanseatic League in the Baltic from the 12th to the 14th century. It’s famous for its well-preserved 3.4 km long medieval town wall, which includes defensive towers. The wall that encircles Visby was initially designed to protect the city from both foreign adversaries and assaults from the countryside. Visby contains a number of remarkable church ruins from the period such as the St. Clemens, St. Nicolai and Drottens ruins, or the St. Karin church ruin with its high arches.
