Eidfjord

Eidfjord is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, located at the end of Norway’s second-longest fjord, the Hardangerfjord. Eidfjord is located in the heart of a region along the RV 7 route, which connects Oslo and Bergen and passes through Hardanger.

Eidfjord Cruise Port opened in May 2005 and has since become a well-known port. The cruise terminal is located in the heart of Eidfjord, making it convenient for cruise passengers who prefer to explore the area on foot. Eidfjord is one of the most picturesque settlements in this area of Norway, surrounded by towering mountains and tumbling waterfalls.

Voringsfossen waterfall

With its 183-meter drop, the Voringsfossen waterfall has long been Norway’s most visited natural attraction. It is 19.5 kilometers away from town.

Sima hydroelectric power plant

The Sima hydroelectric power station is one of Europe’s largest hydroelectric power facilities. The main hall of the power plant is 700 meters into the mountain and measures 200 meters long, 20 meters broad, and 40 meters high. The plant provides guided tours that include a film on the power plant’s construction and a visit inside the power station hall.

Kjeasen mountain farm

The famous Kjeasen mountain farm is built in the shape of an eagle’s nest and is 530 meters above the Simadalsfjord.

Hardangervidda Nature Centre

The Nature Center of Hardangervidda Eidfjord is a contemporary nature and cultural-historical experience facility specializing in Norwegian culture, climate, and environment. The center is located in Eidfjord Ovre, 7 kilometers from town.

Sightseeing tour

The sightseeing excursion begins with a bus ride from Eidfjord’s port to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre. The tour continues up Mabodalen from the Hardangervidda Nature Centre, where you can see Norway’s most famous waterfall, Voringsfossen. It features a 145-meter vertical plunge and a total drop of 182 meters.
