The entrance to the North Cape

Nordkapp is the northernmost point on the European continent. The 307-meter-high cliffs tower over the water below, where the Atlantic and Arctic oceans meet. Nordkapphallen, a visitor center with a souvenir store, a post office, and a restaurant or café, is tunneled into the rock behind the cliffs. Most cruise lines provide a bus shuttle from Honningsvag to Nordkapp, a 35-kilometer excursion.

Northern Lights and Midnight sun

The midnight sun and the northern lights are two natural phenomena that occur in Norway. From May 14 to July 29, the midnight sun is visible at Honningsvag. Because of the proximity to the Arctic Circle, the sun is visible 24 hours a day and, when it should be, not hidden in the horizon, creating a beautiful sunset. However, as autumn approaches, the sky gradually darkens, and the first northern lights can be seen as early as September. From November 22nd to January 20th, the sun never rises over the horizon in Honningsvag. It is known as the polar night. During the winter, the northern lights are virtually always visible in the sky. The clouds are the main factor that prevents one from seeing it.
