You can visit the Town Mountain and viewpoint Aksla. You can reach this on foot by going up 418 steps from the Town Park, by taking the tourist train that toodles around town, or by using the hop-on, hop-off bus. From this location there is a panoramic view of the archipelago, the beautiful town centre, and the amazing Sunnmøre Alps.
The changing direction of glaciers has carved out fjords and valleys and created spectacular mountains ranges. The Sunnmøre Alps were shaped by Hjørundfjord Glacier and its many glacial arms. Majestic mountains and alpine rock formations distinguish the Sunnmøre Alps from other mountain areas.
