Skjolden

If you take a cruise with a stop in Norway, you will have the opportunity to visit the lovely port town of Skjolden. As they make their way through Norway and the Norwagian Fjords, a number of cruise lines make a stop at Skjolden as part of their itineraries. Cruises to Skjolden take passengers into a bustling small town that is home to a plethora of cultural sites and has a warm and inviting vibe.

Cruises to Skjolden, Norway

Skjolden sits near the terminus of the Sognefjord, a fjord that is every bit as beautiful as the longer and more well-known Hardangerfjord. This is a little town, but they recently built a cruise terminal, so depending on the day’s schedule and the length of your ship, you may be able to dock instead of using a tender. The journey begins at the foot of Norway’s tallest mountains in Jotunheimen National Park and passes through the gorgeous Lusterfjord on its way to Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier on the European peninsula. Skjolden is a port of call where cruise passengers can get off the ship and be near the territory once occupied by the Vikings’ most dreaded enemies. That is, at least, what the Vikings thought.
