Svolvaer is the administrative center of Vagan Municipality in the county of Nordland, Norway. It is located in the Lofoten archipelago on the island of Austvagoya. Because of its historical significance as a significant fishing village, Svolvaer was awarded town status on July 1, 1918, when the new town of Svolvaer was detached from the municipality of Vagan to become its own municipality. The new municipality began with 2,429 residents.

The wooden drying racks are lined up next to one another in this historic village, and the wharfs, warehouses, and industrial buildings add to the area’s unique character. There is a tiny store, some “Rorbu” fishermen’s huts, and an art museum on the island. You’ll also get some great views of Svolvaer, the Svolvaer Geita, the sea, and the nearby islands. The walking time from the town center is approximately 20–30 minutes.
The midnight sun is a unique summer phenomenon that occurs above the Arctic Circle. In the summer between May 25 and July 17, you can enjoy 24 hours of daylight, the Midnight Sun, perfect for fitting in all the activities this spot has to offer. Sun does not rise from December 9 to January 4.
